  • Foreign Exchange:Members can avail of our foreign exchange service. Members can buy and sell most currencies, and pay only on collection. We also offer next day delivery for currencies which we may not have in stock, when ordered before 12 Noon.
  • DBI – A member pay insurance that provides €1,300 on death towards the funeral expenses of any member who joined the Credit Union before the age of 70 and who is still a member at the time of death, easing the financial burden of bereavement. Please note members that apply for membership after their 70th birthday do NOT qualify for Death Benefit Insurance or LPLS cover on loans or savings
  • Quarterly members draw for only €30 per annum.
How do I Join?

Joining is Easy! To be eligible for membership of Derg Credit Union you must be living or working within our common bond area.

The common bond is the factor which unites all the members of Derg Credit Union — it is what all members have in common i.e. where they live. Because of the common bond, all members have the good of their credit union at heart; they know and trust each other.

What is required to open up a Credit Union account?

When opening up an account you are required to provide the following (for further information on why we collect the following data and how we use it click Here

 

  • Photographic identification (current passport, drivers licence or completed ML10, Garda age card, public services card)
  • Proof of your address, dated within the last three months, (examples are a household utility bill, bank statement, insurance or mobile phone bill) dated within last six months
  • PPSN number (New public services card is not acceptable but old PPSN card or medical card is acceptable, payslip, P60, revenue document)
  • Please note there is a membership fee of €1 for members over 16.
  • A balance of €5 is required at all times to maintain membership. If availing of DBI a balance of €20 must be maintained at all times.
Minor Accounts

These accounts are opened in the name of a person below seven years of age by a parent or guardian. The person opening the account will require:

  • The minor’s birth certificate
  • The minor’s PPS number on a document from the state
  • Proof of Address & Photo ID of the parents or guardian.
Children Over 7
  • Passport or original Birth Certificate in child’s name.
  • PPS number on a document from the State
  • Proof of Child’s Address (e.g. letter on headed paper from school, confirming they are a pupil of that school and confirming their home address. The letter must be dated and signed by the school Principal/Vice Principal/Teacher or School Secretary or doctor or dental document stating child’s name & address, signed & dated.)
or

Proof of Address & Photo ID of the parents or guardian

To open a Club/Society account

Three officers of the club / society must be authorised to open the account. They must complete our ‘Letter of Authorisation’ document confirming that the three persons are authorised to operate and withdraw monies from the account. Each officer must produce:

  • Photographic identification (current passport, drivers licence or completed ML10, Garda age card, public services card)
  • Proof of their address, dated within the last three months, (examples are a household utility bill, bank statement, insurance or mobile phone bill)
  • PPSN number (PPSN Card, payslip, P60, revenue document)
  • Please note there is a membership fee of €1 and a balance of €5 is required at all times to maintain membership.

 

Account Dormant?

The account can be easily activated by calling in with the following:

  • Photographic identification (current passport, drivers licence or completed ML10, Garda age card, public services card)
  • Proof of your address, dated within the last three months, (examples are a household utility bill, bank statement, insurance or mobile phone bill)
  • PPSN number (New personal services card is not acceptable but old cards or medical card is acceptable, payslip, P60, revenue document)
  • Finally you must perform a transactio0n on your account.
