Business Development Officer
Derg Credit Union serves 8,000 members in a range of rural areas and towns throughout East Clare with offices in Scarriff and Killaloe. The Credit Union has savings in advance of €24.6m and loans in the region of €5.6m and wishes to substantially expand its lending business.
In that regard Derg Credit Union now seeks to employ a Business Development Officer on a one-year contract.
The Role
The primary purpose of the job is to grow the lending business of Derg Credit Union. The Business Development Officer will be expected to:
- Enhance/build relationships with existing members, with new members, with schools, community organisations, farmers and businesses.
- Inform members, non-members and the wider public about the products and services of the credit union.
- Actively encourage this range of individuals and organisations to become active participants in the credit union as borrowers and savers.
- Grow Derg Credit Union’s lending levels in a manner and amount which is consistent with the credit unions strategic and risk management objectives.
The Person
- Ideally the person will have a third level qualification in sales, marketing or finance or in a discipline judged to be appropriate to the position
- She/he will be a self-starter with a proven track record in sales, promotion or community relations
- Will be innovative and creative.
- Will have excellent communications skills both written and verbal with experience in preparing and giving public presentations
- Will have excellent computer skills and be proficient and experienced in social media
- Will be a good team player
- Will have some knowledge of Credit Unions
- Will be willing to work unsociable hours and weekends
Derg Credit Union is open to employing an individual or to outsourcing the role.
Remuneration will be commensurate with qualifications and experience and will include performance bonus.
